DAYDREAMING

Snow falls down as Yanfei came out of her house. It is monday, Yanfei's favorite day of the week. Monday may be a source of misery for some, but for Yanfei, it is the start of everything good. From going to school to reading her favorite law books. She's also wearing her favorite Monday sweater, which Hu Tao gave her, while feeling the cold breeze of the air.

Yanfei is taking advantage of her alone time by reading a book she borrowed from the library. She can't deny that reading in silence is relaxing, yet she has the feeling that something is missing. “Feifei!” Her face lit up with a smile as she heard that nickname.

“Hey, Hu Tao!” Yanfei cheerfully greeted her friend back while putting her stuffs away. Hu Tao, on the other hand, pouts because Yanfei addressed her by her given name rather than by her nickname. When Yanfei witnessed Hu Tao's reaction, she burst out laughing.

“How long have you been waiting?” Despite Yanfei's continued laughter, Hu Tao asks her a question. Hu Tao stares at her in surprise as she says, "I've been waiting for about 30 minutes now." Hu Tao told her that she's always early in response. “Oh, by the way Xingqui invited us to a party at his place on Christmas Eve.” Yanfei simply nodded, indicating that Hu Tao might continue. “His boyfriend Chongyun, as well as the entire gang, will be there!”... “I'm guessing Xiangling will be in charge of the kitchen that night. Of course, with my assistance! Ehe.”

. . . . Christmas Eve

The room is filled with laughter, gossip, and loud music. Everyone else in the squad is having a good time, except Hu Tao. She has nothing else to do now that she and Xiangling have finished cooking. She thought to herself, “It's unusual for Yanfei to be late.” Yanfei hasn't arrived yet, which worries Hu Tao because she might not show up. Hu Tao opted to sit near the kitchen counter while waiting for Yanfei so she wouldn't go hungry, and it's the least she could do given that her friends are dancing in pairs while Xinyan is playing her guitar.

Time has passed, and Christmas is approaching. Hu Tao has been staring at the door for a long time, hoping to see Yanfei. 11:55 pm, still no trace of Yanfei. They will start the countdown anytime soon to celebrate the Christmas as well as give each other gifts.

“13! 12! 11!...” You can hear their excitement while counting down. Hu Tao is beginning to lose hope. "10! 9! 8!...” They continued to yell. “7! 6!...” Yanfei arrived in the middle of the loud crowd, wearing again her monday sweater. Hu Tao didn't noticed her at first not until Yanfei called her name.

“Taotao! " Hu Tao was taken aback and her emotions were jumbled. She has no idea what she's feeling about. It's as though she's never experienced anything like this before.

“...5!” Hu Tao saw Yanfei walking towards her. Everything around her moves at a glacial pace. Her focus is on Yanfei, and Yanfei only.

“...4!” The raucous crowd falls silent and it all happens with only a smile from Yanfei.

“...3!” Hu Tao can only hear her own breath and Yanfei's voice that is calling for her.

“...2!” This is when Hu Tao finally realized that she is madly, deeply in love with Yanfei.

“...1! Merry Christmas, everyone!” Xiangling shouts.
